Lady Gaga Talks Overcoming Self-Doubt With David Beckham In Candid Video

Lady Gaga and David Beckham met for the first time during a casual interview of sorts.

On Wednesday (October 30), the “Born This Way” musician and the soccer star came together at a lavish condo overlooking the city somewhere in Los Angeles, where the stars participated in a sit-down chat by way of Tudor Watches and its #BornToDare campaign. The meeting begins off with a formal introduction before the pair get to know each other by pulling questions from a deck of cards, asking questions about their young idols, the most daring moments of their lives, and how they’ve coped with feelings of self-doubt.

“In the darkest, hardest times of my life, I always had my grandmothers there,” Gaga revealed. “Just to say, ‘Stop that crying. I’ll let you cry for today and then tomorrow, you’re going to wake up and no more tears and you’re going to keep going.’"

In the spirit of Tudor’s #BornToDare motto, Beckham cited free boarding and snowboarding as the most daring things he’s done recently but above all considers “moving clubs” (from team Manchester to Madrid then to the U.S.) and learning their cultures as his most dauntless career decision. Beckham believes in daring to do the things people tell him he shouldn’t do, to which Gaga concurred.

“To me, the most daring moments of my life have been when I did not give up. Or there’s something in me that’s like, ‘You don’t have it in you. You can’t do it. You’re done,’” Gaga added. “Lots of self-doubt and having that other voice of ‘You’ve got this. Be stronger than all the others.’ … You’ve gotta use it and shout it and yell it and have it be louder than everything else.”

She concluded: “I always have said that God didn’t put me on this earth to be loved by the world. I believe God put me on this earth for me to help people love themselves more.”
